Martha Locke Cammack, age 23, died suddenly on October 12, 2013 in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Martha was born June 27, 1990 in Nashville. She is survived by her parents, Lucie Wallace Cammack and William Howard Cammack Jr.; her stepmother, Shelley Long Cammack; her grandparents, Eugenia Hecker Cammack and William Howard Cammack; and her four beloved sisters, Julia Wallace Cammack, Alice Laird Cammack, Julia Meriwether Cammack, and Ward Witt Cammack. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Martha Locke Wallace and Glen L Wallace.
Martha was a 2009 graduate of Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Virginia, where she was editor of the yearbook and led more admissions tours than anyone else. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies from Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina in May 2013. While at Wofford, Martha was an active and well-liked member of the community. She loved every minute she spent at Wofford and dedicated much of her time to telling others what a great place it was, both as a Student Ambassador for the Admissions Department and as a student Team Member in the Development Office. A proud member of Kappa Alpha Theta, Martha served as her chapter’s Chief Financial Officer and Ritualist. She was also an enthusiastic participant in Reformed University Fellowship.
Martha was never happier than when she was at Camp DeSoto in Mentone, Alabama, where she was a camper for ten years and then worked as a counselor for three summers during college.
She was most recently employed as a Teller at the Melrose Branch of Suntrust Bank in Nashville, where she immediately earned the admiration and respect of her co-workers and customers.
Martha will be remembered for her fiery red hair, infectious smile, love for life, and positive spirit.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday October 16 at 11:00 a.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, with visitation Tuesday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
