Mrs. Marilyn Kay Woodring Watts Vick, age 79, of Nashville, TN, passed away Friday, August 30, 2019, at home. She was born July 9, 1940 in Buffalo, Wyoming, daughter of the late Ernest Woodring, Sr. and Lillian Mae Cook Woodring.
Marilyn loved the Lord and she loved her family and friends. She was a founding member of what is now the First Baptist Church of Scottsboro. She traveled, earned a pilot’s license; enjoyed flowers and birds; playing cards and other games with all ages. She enjoyed the company of her loyal life long friends.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Franklin David Vick, Sr; former husband Jesse L. Watts, Jr.; a son, William J. Watts; brothers Jewell McNeese and Thomas Woodring; and sister Doris Woodring Brumit. Marilyn is survived by sons Steven E. (Angie) Watts, Lebanon; and James L. Watts, Chapmansboro; and daughters Judy Carter, Indian Mound; and Donna K. (David) Dunlap,
Bellevue; a brother Ernest (Laura) Woodring, Starr, SC. She also leaves behind 8 grandchildren: Kelsey Watts, Dr. Michael Carter, Cindy Carter Parcells, Sheila Carter Hairston, Jessica Dunlap, Caleb Dunlap, Davina Dunlap, and Audrey Dunlap; and 8 great-grandchildren: Ryan Carter, Samantha Carter, Alyssa Parcells, Carter Parcells, Bo Parcells, Mahaylie Hairston, Patrisha Hairston, and Stanley Hairston; nieces and nephews Barbara Sampson, Jack Woodring, James Brumit and Christina Brumit Akbari, Michael Brumit, Dr. Katherine McNeese, Greg McNeese, Buford Edwards, Clifford Edwards, Carolyn Edwards Stafford, Janice Edwards Longo, Jesse Edwards, John Edwards, Robert Edwards, Mark Edwards, Mary Chris Porter, Dorothy Jane Cunningham and Scott Edwards.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 5, 2019 at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton, 660 Thompson Lane, Nashville, TN, from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. Visitation will also be Friday, September 6, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. The funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. followed by interment on the grounds at the Lord’s Supper Garden. The service officiated by Brother Leon Edwards and remarks by Judge Bill Stinnett.
