EVANS, SR Lewis 83 of Nashville. Passed away March 31, 2013. Preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Orr Evans; parents, Connie Gray and Mary Lewis Evans. Survived by children, Lewis Evans, Jr. (Gretchen), Franklin; Beth Evans Vessel (Todd), Brentwood; grandchildren, Preston, Emma, Olivia, and Julianne. Lewis was a graduate of U T Knoxville with a Civil Engineering Degree and retired in 1994 as the director of the Tennessee Department of Transportation. A member of Granny White Church of Christ, he was a long time fan of University of Tennessee athletics and was an avid reader. Services will be held Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at ten o’clock in the morning at Granny White Church of Christ with burial to follow in Lexington City Cemetery, Lexington, TN. Visitation will be at the church Tuesday 4 o’clock until 7 o’clock in the evening and Wednesday at 9:00am. In lieu of customary rememberance, contributions may be made to Granny White Church of Christ, American Heart Association or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
