Kay Smith Adamson, age 88, of Nashville, Tennessee passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2023. Kay was born on January 17, 1935 at a home on Capers Ave. She was the youngest of nine siblings and spent her whole life in Nashville. She graduated from West End High School in 1953.
Kay was a homemaker for most of her life. She spent a few years working in Production at WDCN Channel 8 before retiring. She married James Tilford Adamson Jr. in 1984. In her free time, Kay loved researching genealogy and was a member of CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) for several years. She also enjoyed music, dance and art. She loved being a mother and was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, grandmother and aunt. Her family was her true pride and joy.
Kay is survived by her children, Lorraine Griffis Curley, Ginger Griffis (Gary) Smith, Stacey Griffis (Harlan) Holmes and Deron (Katina) Griffis; Grandchildren, Stephen (Clarissa) Curley, Kevin Curley, Taylor Holmes, Grayson Holmes, Katelyn (Brandon) Lowery, Harrison Griffis, Garrett Griffis, Dalton (Chris) Nary, Dylan Basham and Grace (Trevor) Davis; Great-grandchildren, Harper Evelyn Lowery, Reagan Kay Lowery; Brother, Bob Dudley (Jeanne) Smith Sr.; Sister-in-law, Betty Adamson (Don) Short; and many loving nieces and nephews whom she adored. She is also survived by four step-children and 10 step-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert Forrest Smith Sr. and Daisy Dean Myers Smith; Husband, James T. Adamson Jr.; Siblings, Reita Smith Petsch, Albert Forrest Smith, Jr., Donald Hayes Smith, Russell Monroe Smith, Garland Perry Smith, Gordon Hamilton Smith, Joan Smith Jones; and one step-son.
She is also preceded in death by her special friend of over 70 years, Sallie Smith Benton.
Services to celebrate Kay’s life will be Wednesday, January 10, 2023 at 2:30 PM at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home, 660 Thompson Lane Nashville, TN 37204, with visitation beginning at 12:30 PM until the Celebration of Life Service at 2:30 PM.
