Jack was born on January 24, 1932 in Nashville, TN, the son of Douglas Smith and Ruth Bradford Smith Brittain. He married Evelyn Aguilard on September 9, 1978 in Nashville, and they spent 42 wonderful years together.
Surviving is his wife, Evelyn A. Brittain; step-son, Robert Aguilard; and three step grandchildren.
Preceding Jack in death are his parents; and one step-son, William Aguilard.
Jack was a proud United States Air Force Veteran, and a 38 year Dispatcher, reaching the rank of Captain for the Nashville Fire Department. He was a member of the International Association of Firefighters Local 140, and Crieve Hall Church of Christ.
A loving husband and friend too many, Jack will be greatly missed.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from five o’clock until seven o’clock in the evening on Thursday, November 19, 2020, and from eleven o’clock in the morning until twelve o’clock on Friday, November 20, 2020 at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be on Friday, November 20, 2020 at twelve o’clock in Woodlawn’s Dignity Hall. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park with military honors.
