Joe Donald West

Joe was born in Owens Chapel, Tennessee on August 12, 1936. He served the U.S. Army for nearly two years before beginning work as a Teamster for Mason Dixon and Carolina Freight where he worked for 34 years. Following his retirement, he began to work for the Tennessee Department of Transportation where he served for five years.

Joe was preceded in death by his father, Elvis West; mother, Lena West; brothers, Fred and Johnny West; and sisters, Rose Lee and Geraldine Smith.

Joe was a member of Leevile church of Christ and former member and deacon of Pennington Bend church of Christ. He led his home in the ways of the Lord. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Nancy West; three children, Teresa [Chuck] Gerson, Don [Lisa] West, and Darrell [De] West; grandchildren, Craig [Ingrid] Gulley, Carmen [Scott] Gregson, Jennifer [Shane] Mangrum, Joe Don [Kayla] West, Jessica [Brandon] Mallory and Harrison West; great-grandchildren, Jaycee Mangrum, Jackson West, Khloe Frazier, Shakira and Jordan Gulley, and sisters Phebia Head and Roby Jean True.

A celebration of life will be held on July 5th at 2:00 at Pennington Bend church of Christ in Donelson, Tennessee.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Alive Hospice of Lebanon, Tennessee. The family wishes to thank you all for your love and support.
