A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Originally from Marvell, Arkansas, Jo spent her teen years in South America and returned to the U.S. to graduate from Nicholas Blackwell High School in Bartlett, Tenn. She briefly attended Ohio Wesleyan College where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority and then completed her bachelor’s degree in accounting at Bowling Green College of Commerce in Kentucky. While in Bowling Green, Jo met her future husband Harold Gordon Richardson of Nashville. They were married on September 1, 1957, at Belmont Methodist Church. They established their home in Nashville where both worked as accountants. Jo served for years as an officer for the local Nashville Chapter of the National Association of Accountants. From her time in South America, Jo fell in love with languages and travel. She was an avid traveler across the U.S., Canada, Europe, New Zealand, Australia, and Fiji. She enjoyed learning about cultures, appreciated global architectures, and always savored local cuisines. Jo spent most of her spare time gardening and reading. She also was a passionate basketball fan, and March Madness was one of her favorite seasons - especially cheering on the Vanderbilt Commodores.
Jo was preceded in death by her husband Harold Richardson, mother Geraldine W. Charles, stepfather William S. Charles, and father Sibly Davison.
Jo is survived by sons Dean (Sharon) Richardson, Fred (Lora) Richardson, and John (Jodie) Richardson along with grandchildren Adam (Aileen), Danielle, and Katlin and step grandchildren Cliff (Brandy) Parkhurst, Larry Parkhurst, Sean Parkhurst, and Dianna Parkhurst. She also is survived by her nieces Connie (Ed) Taylor and Linda (Jay) Long.
The family is grateful to have been with Jo in her final days and appreciates prayers during this time of grief.
