She worked for the IRS after graduating high school before getting a position with the Naval Separation Center in Nashville. This is where she met an officer, her forever love, Walter H Stubbs Sr, after a whirlwind romance, they eloped and married in Catoosa County, GA. They began their life together in Nashville after Walter’s discharge from the Navy. Jean engaged in charitable work for many years with the desire of always helping others. She had five healthy children she loved with all her heart. She loved family dinners, picnics, and nights out on the town. Her family was the greatest joy of her life. She spent the last 30 years in Florida enjoying the time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jean enjoyed going to casinos, playing cards and board games, and looking forward to visits from her family.
Jean is preceded in death by parents, her husband, her sister, Nancie Ogles, her brother Clarence, Jr., her son Lewis Stubbs Sr., and daughter, Stephanie Teasley. She is survived by daughters, May Bell and Nancy (Don) Hessler, and her son, Walter H (Devery) Stubbs Jr., sister, Nancy McClendon, grandchildren, Alan Bell, Kim Esser, Megan (Andrew) Byars, Lewis Stubbs Jr., Ashley Stubbs, Daniel (Amiee) Stubbs, Erin Stubbs (Joey) Bishop, Brandon Hessler, Brittany Ducharme, Emma Thew, and Kara (Rafael) Ibarra, 16 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.
