James O. Roberts passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at the age of 78. He was born July 24, 1937, in Nashville. He is survived by Helga, his wife of 45 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Odell and Loretta Roberts and brother Ricky Roberts. He is survived by his sister Dimple (R.C.) McClendon and their children Cindy Maxwell; Tracy (Dale) Swafford; Pam (Chris) Gordon and Bobby (Debbie) McClendon and brother Ronnie (Marilyn) Roberts and their two children. He is also survived by his mother- in-law, Elfriede Morris, brother-in-law, Riley (Nicole) Morris and their children Eddie Morris and Joy (Jake) Pettis; sister-in-law Sylvia (Roger) Meadows and their children Michael Meadows and Stephanie Meadows; and sister-in-law Christina Palmer and her daughter Katie Palmer. He also had 12 great nieces and great nephews and one great-great niece. James served in the Navy from 1958-1959, preceded by two years of service in the National Guard. He served as the Vice-President of the USS Colonial (LSD 18) Association for 18 years and really enjoyed the camaraderie of each and every reunion. After 30 years, he retired from Belle Meade Country Club where he formed many close friendships with both co-workers and members. Gathering of family and friends, Thursday from five o’clock until eight o’clock at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home, and from eleven until the service at one o’clock on Friday. Celebration of Life Service will be on Friday, April 22, 2016 at one o’clock in the afternoon, Woodlawn’s Dignity Hall. Interment to follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
