Dr. Foshee, a former resident of Nashville for 45 years, died Monday, January 27, 2020. He had lived at Westminster Village in Spanish Fort, AL since December 2000. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cornelius Howard Foshee and Audie Lucille Cochran and loving wife of 55 years, Zola Leek Foshee. Dr. Foshee is survived by his three daughters, Mrs. Zola (John) Edwards of Seymour, TN, Mrs. Becky (Jim) Reed of Tracy City, TN, and Mrs. Elizabeth (Robert) Jones of Grand Bay, AL; 8 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and dearest friend Mrs. Jane Ross of Mobile, AL.
Dr. Foshee graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in Montgomery, AL before serving in the United States Navy from 1943-46. He graduated from Howard College in Birmingham, AL and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. In 1979, he was awarded an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree from Samford University. He was employed by Lifeway Christian Resources, formerly Baptist Sunday School Board, where he spent 35 years as an editor and member of the Executive Management Staff. He was also the author of five books and multiple magazine articles. Following his retirement, he traveled to over 60 countries with his wife training missionaries and national leaders in management, strategic planning and leadership skills. They taught in hospitals, schools, and mission conferences. Following his move to the Gulf Coast he served on the Board of Directors of Widowed Persons Service of Mobile and coordinated the work of multiple Grief Support Groups.
Visitation will be from 10:00-11:30 a.m. with a Celebration of Life at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home in Nashville, TN. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
The family would like to thank the staff at Westminster Village for the superior care he received during his last years at Willowbrooke Court.
