Helen B McDaniel

Helen Beatty McDaniel was born in Livingston, TN on December 31, 1933. Helen passed away at Harmony of Mt. Juliet on February 4, 2023 surrounded by her children. Helen graduated from Baptist Hospital’s School of Nursing earning the distinction of Registered Nurse and received her Masters degree in geriatrics from Vanderbilt University. She was head nurse of the intensive care unit at Oak Ridge Hospital for several years, worked with the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, AL and, after moving to Middle Tennessee, she worked as a nurse at several local hospitals. In the latter phase of her career, Helen taught nursing at Belmont University and Aquinas College in Nashville, TN. She was an active member of Forest Hills Baptist Church where she served on several committees and was most proud of her work with the prayer ministry which led to the establishment of the first prayer room ministry for Forest Hills.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred. She is survived by her children, Lisa Atchley (Rick) of Georgetown, TN, Betsy Boswell (Bubba) of Arrington, TN, Ernie McDaniel (Teresa) of Hermitage, TN; grandchildren, Chanda Strickland, Kyle and Clyde Boswell, Greg Curry and Ryan McDaniel and seven great grandchildren; her sister Ann and many nieces and nephews.

Helen will be remembered for her generosity to anyone who needed help, opening her home up to anyone that needed a room or a meal and her love for God and her family. Family will receive friends at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 660 Thompson Lane, Nashville TN on Saturday, February 18th, with visitation from 10:30 am to 11:30 am followed by a memorial service with Dr. Jerry Winfield officiating.
