Visitation will be held at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 660 Thompson Lane, Nashville, TN, on Friday, November 22, 2024 from 10:00 to 1:00 with the service conducted at 1:00 pm by Ministers Houston and Mitchell Haynes. Her Grandsons will serve as active pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Jones, Mitchell Haynes, Larry Banniza, Jeff Bills, Jason Kemp and Past Matrons and Past Patrons of Claiborne Chapter #144 OES. Entombment will be at Woodlawn Mausoleum, 689 Thompson Lane, Nashville, TN.
Floy graduated from Howard High School in Nashville in 1949. She loved her family and playing canasta for 50 years with her best friends from the Southlake community which she helped found and where she continued to live for 70 years.
She grew up attending church at Lindsley Avenue Church of Christ, and being a life-long member of the Church of Christ brought her great joy. She took pride in her administrative assistant position with The Methodist Publishing House, from which she retired.
Floy was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Marguerite Frogge Herndon, husband of 58 years, Foster Ables and daughter, Sherry Ables Banniza.
Survivors include her daughters, Beverly (Tommy) Jones, Dana Ables, Stacy (Mitchell) Haynes, and son-in-law, Larry Banniza; grandchildren, Tracey (Jason) Kemp, Cody (Sarah) Banniza, Jason (Kim) Jones, Brittany (Jeff) Bills, Jesse Cannady, Jacob (Chelsey) Cannady, Houston (Delaney) Haynes, Harley (Katie) Haynes and Hunter (Emma) Haynes; great-grandchildren, Mallory D., Maddy, Mallory J., Addie, Jackson, Maddox, Coley, Josie, Lorelei, Hattie and Waylon; devoted cousin, Mickey Stagg and loving friend, Donna Thurman.
