Faye is survived by her daughter, Diane Goodman, and her husband, Bill Goodman of Springfield, Tennessee; and her grandchildren, Claire Goodman Sawyer (Robert) of Nashville, Tennessee, and Alex Goodman (Courtney) of Columbia, Tennessee, and four great grandchildren, Anne Claire Sawyer, Robert Sawyer, Will Goodman and Clayton Goodman.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, William A. Stone. In addition, she was preceded in death by her parents Durward Stapleton and Maggie Stapleton; brother, James Stapleton and sisters Addie Stapleton, Cecile Schock, and Louise Jones.
Faye was born in Daphne, Alabama, and attended the University of Alabama where she met her husband, William Augus Stone. In 1946, the couple moved to Nashville at which time they became members of McKendree Methodist Church and attended faithfully for over 60 years. Faye served at McKendree as a Children's Sunday School teacher, choir member, nursery volunteer and was a long time member of the Martha Estes Sunday School Class. She was also an active member of the Home Demonstration Club and Bible Study Group.
Faye was known for her cheerful smile and warm greeting that was given to all she met. She was a devoted wife, mother and friend who will be missed by many!
Funeral services will be held Sunday, July, 19, 2015, at three o'clock in the afternoon at Woodlawn-Roesch--Patton Funeral Home's Dignity Hall. The family will receive friends at Woodlawn from one o'clock in the afternoon until service time. Interment will take place at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Active pallbearers to serve are Alex Goodman, Bill Goodman, Robert Sawyer, Jimmy Stapleton, Larry Mitchell, Richard Johnston and Randy Holt.
