Erna is survived by her daughter, Eva B. Studwell; son-in-law, Carl Stasiunas; granddaughter, Kelly Darnell, grandsons, Eric Stasiunas, Jason Studwell, and Matt Studwell; great grandsons, Will and Eddie Stasiunas; great granddaughter, Elise Darnell; grand daughters-in-law, Karen Stasiunas and Sara Studwell; and grand son-in-law, Patrick Darnell.
Erna is preceded in death by her husband and great love of 65 years, Walter Beyer; her beloved daughter, Renate Stasiunas; and beloved son, Wolfgang Beyer.
Erna was born September 6, 1917, in Roggen, Germany to Wilhelmine and Adam Silmelka. She was married to Walter in Cuxhaven, August 22, 1944. They immigrated to the U.S. August 4, 1951, with their one-year old daughter to begin a new life and journey. Their new home would be Nashville, TN.
Erna loved to cook, delighting her family and friends with her many delicious meals and desserts. Erna’s favorite meal was dark chocolate.
Erna’s children were her world. When the grandchildren came, she became Oma (grandmother). Her favorite past time with the grandchildren was going to the park, ushering them to the duck pond, and raiding their eggs to scramble for breakfast. As the years passed, the stars in Oma’s eyes would shine when her great grandchildren would surround her chair.
After Erna arrived to Nashville, TN, she became a life-long member of the First Lutheran Church in Nashville
Visitation Saturday October27th from ten o’clock in the morning until eleven thirty at Woodlawn Roesch Patton Funeral Home. Funeral will begin at eleven thirty in the morning in Woodlawn’s Dignity Hall. Burial following Woodlawn Memorial Park.
