Ellis Terry Dale, 95, of Nashville, TN, passed away Tuesday, February 16th, at Southerland Place in Brentwood, TN. Ellis was born in Celina, TN on January 23, 1921, a son of the late Emma (Terry) and Jack Dale. Ellis was married to Virginia (Hollingsworth) Dale, they had been married for 59 years when Virginia passed away in 2005. Ellis served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII. He was of Church of Christ faith. Ellis was a successful businessman during his life; a partial owner and stockholder at Sureway grocery store in Henderson, KY; a co-owner of Hollinsworth and Dale Buick and Pontiac Car Dealership in Tompkinsville, KY, and the retired owner of Smalling Safety Equipment out of Nashville, TN. Ellis was known for his generosity, big heart, and compassion that he had toward everyone. Ellis was a caring man that loved his family, friends and life in general. Ellis will be remembered for being a true southern gentleman. Ellis is survived by a son, Joseph Terry "Joe" Dale, of Nashville, TN; a daughter, Mary Ann Dale, of Scottsdale, Arizona ; and his grandson, Alex Zabaski of Scottsdale, Arizona. Other than Ellis' parents and loving wife, he is preceded in death by all of his siblings, Ray Dale, Jack Dale, Joseph Austin Dale, Elizabeth Baugh and Dorothy Rich. Services will be held Friday the Nineteenth at Woodland Memorial Park, 600 Thompson Lane, Nashville with visitation starting at 12:30, a chapel service at 2:30 followed by mausoleum internment. A Celebration of Life will follow. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to your local Dog Rescue or Hip Donelson Lost and Found Pets.
