Dorothy Pearl "Dot" James Sandlin, age 96, of Nashville, Tennessee passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2022. She was preceded in death by her husband, Brownie Hugh Sandlin, parents, Richard Burl James and Mary Catherine McRight James and 10 siblings, of which she was the youngest. Having been born in Franklin County, Alabama, Dot lived most of her adult life in Donelson, Tennessee. She is survived by children Janice Kaye Sandlin Choate (Phil), Larry Hugh Sandlin, David Neal Sandlin (Gwen), grandchildren Eric Phillip Choate (Ann), Emily Catherine Choate (Greg Morneau), grandchild Kurt Choate, step-grandchildren Alec and Anna Morneau, and many nephews, nieces and great nephews and nieces.
Dot was a member of the Lebanon Road Church of Christ, Donelson, Tennessee, where she greatly enjoyed the fellowship of that congregation. Family and church family were her focus in life. Her pastimes were cooking, sewing and gardening. Dot lived the last five years of her life at American House Senior Living, Edmondson Pike, Nashville, Tennessee. Her family wishes to express their gratitude for the loving care she received there. The family also wishes to thank Enhabit Hospice for their guidance and special care during Dot’s last days.
A gathering of family and friends for Dorothy will be held Monday, December 12, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN 37204. A celebration of life will occur Monday, December 12, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM with Tim Frizell and sons, Larry and David officiating. A graveside service will occur Monday, December 12, 2022 from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at Mount Juliet Memorial Gardens, 654 W Division Street, Mount Juliet, TN 37122.
