Dorothy Jordan Kay Hodges heard the angels shout and was carried to heaven on April 27, 2024. Born in Murfreesboro on March 10, 1936, she moved to Hamilton Ave. near the Nashville city reservoir in 1941 when she was five. She attended West High School and was elected Miss West High in 1954. She married the late Doug Kay in 1956 and graduated from Belmont Nursing School shortly thereafter. After Doug passed in 1983, she married Plummer Hodges and spent many wonderful years with him until he predeceased her in 2014. She traveled the world with Plummer to Russia, China, Poland, Cuba and Haiti as a missionary and also traveled to virtually every state-often in a pickup truck towing a camper.
Known as “Dot Dot” to her eight grandchildren, she spent every waking moment glorifying Jesus and serving her grandchildren and friends. Even when her health was declining, she spent her energy at Harmony in Brentwood welcoming new residents with a happy heart and big, beautiful smile. She leaves us a wonderful legacy of service, kindness and joy. Dot has three surviving children: Jim Kay (Elaine), Jon Kay (Nancy) and Carole Anne Orsborn as well as eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild she held in a great moment of happiness before her death.
