Dorothy Gentry Heidtke - Born June 16, 1921 in Spring Hill, TN, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2015 at the Blakeford in Green Hills. She was the daughter of the late Charles Clyde Gentry and Della Bedford Gentry. She was preceded in death by her husband Lyman Oscar Heidtke, son Richard Lloyd, her sister Lucy Bates and her brothers Harley, Herbert, James W. “Dick”, Bedford, Maurice and Neal Gentry. She is survived by her son Lyman Oscar “Buzz” Heidtke, Jr., granddaughter Annsley Heidtke McAleer (Robert) of Boston, and great-granddaughters Frances and Beatrice McAleer. Dorothy was a lifelong resident of Donelson, TN where she attended high school and the Donelson Church of Christ. She attended Middle Tennessee State College in Murfreesboro where she met her husband, Lyman, who was on military maneuvers in the area. They traveled extensively and lived in Germany before Lyman left the Army as a Lieutenant Colonel to begin a career as an engineer with DuPont. A woman of beauty and style, Dorothy participated in many modeling engagements. She was an active churchgoer, and loved baking her cakes and delivering them to the sick and those in mourning. The family will receive friends at Hibbett & Hailey Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 17 from 4 until 7 p.m. Visitation will be at the Donelson Church of Christ on Wednesday, November 18 at 10 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. The burial will follow at Hermitage Memorial Gardens.
