Surrounded by her children, Dottie, age 90, entered heaven while peacefully sleeping on March 24, 2021, in Cleveland, Tennessee. She was born February 18, 1931, in Nashville to the late Leon D. and Lillian C. Russell. She is survived by her son, Steven “Rusty” Ross (Stacy) of Nashville, daughter, Connie Stowers (Mark) of Cleveland, TN, and son-in-law Sidney Moody of Louisville. She was blessed with 10 beautiful grandchildren whom she adored and was thrilled to welcome 24 great grandchildren during her lifetime. She was pre-deceased by her husband and love of her life, Herbert “Buck” Ross and daughter, Betsy Ross, brothers, Edward and Anderson Russell, and sisters, Cornelia MacCamley and Marie Webster, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She grew up in the Nations of Nashville, graduating from Cohn High School. She learned to love Jesus at home and at West Nashville, Dalewood and Belle Meade United Methodist churches. Mother, grandmother and homemaker were Dottie’s favorite jobs, but she also worked many years with Ingram Materials, Inc. Her greatest joy was her family and made sure each one of them f special and exceptionally loved. She was an active member of Woodmont Baptist Church where she sang in the choir until her mid 80’s. Dottie and her husband were good friends with Bill and Lois W. Together they mentored many in that community.
Visitation will be Monday, March 29, 2021, at 10 am followed by a service at 11 am at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home. Entombment immediately following in Woodlawn's Cross Mausoleum. Grandson's will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Woodmont Baptist Church Media Library or Alive Hospice Nashville.
