Dorothy Thacker Buchanan

BUCHANAN, Dorothy Thacker - Mrs. Buchanan died on January 5, 2012 at the age of 90 years. She was born on July 29, 1921 in Nashville to Ernest Burton Thacker and Margaret Colquette Thacker. Mrs. Buchanan was a graduate of Central High School and was employed, while a young woman, by Nashville Linen Service. She was a life member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and was a life-long member of the Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Louis Fowler Buchanan, who died five days earlier; sisters, Evelyn Marie Thacker and Louise (Hal) Florence; and brothers, Ernest B. (Pat) Thacker, Jr., Albert L. (Helen) Thacker and Marion Louis Thacker. Mrs. Buchanan is survived by daughters, Evelyn B. (John) Brandon and Julia (Nelson) Tomlinson; grandchildren, Jason (Christy) Brandon, Jeremy Brandon and Julia (Mike) Perfilio; great-grandchildren, John Michael and Julianna Brandon, and Anthony Perfilio; sisters, Frances (John) Lee, Dean (Daniel) Eddy and Jean (Hiram) McCain, and by sister-in-law, Juanita (Neely) McCoy. Services will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 10 a.m., at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home, with Pastor Steven Meriwether of Immanuel Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be at Woodlawn today, Friday, January 6, 2012 from 5 - 7 p.m., and for one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Brandon, Mike Perfilio, Scott Witt, Hayden Witt, Robert McCain and Stephen Eddy. In lieu of flowers, please make any memorial gifts to the Steeple Fund of Immanuel Baptist Church, 222 Belle Meade Boulevard, Nashville, TN 37203, in remembrance of its generous support and assistance in the aftermath of the flood of 2010, and during Mrs. Buchanan's lengthy illness.
