Deborah graduated from Hillwood High School on August 2, 1974. She graduated from Tennessee State University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology degree on August 11, 1979.
As a youth, Deborah made a Christian commitment to the teachings of Jesus Christ and joyfully attended the Jefferson Street Missionary Baptist Church. Deborah taught Sunday school and sung in the choir. In addition to spending time with her children and grandchildren, her cherished pastime was studying God’s word.

By God’s grace, Deborah was a twenty-three-year cancer survivor.
