Clarence A Burgett

Clarence Allen "Toby" Burgett, age 81, passed away April 11, 2015, in Nashville, TN. Toby will be missed by his family and loving wife of 61 years, Jo Ann, with whom he was a longtime member of Northwood (formerly North End) Baptist Church. Toby was a devoted Christian and church Deacon for over 50 years. He loved spending time with his family, attending ball games, and following the lives of his grandchildren. Toby worked for PSI/Pittsburgh Testing Laboratory in Nashville for over 27 years. He later worked for and retired from Brown's Concrete & Block Company in Dickson, TN. He was a respected expert in the formulation and testing of concrete materials, and was honored by his peers by induction into the Tennessee Concrete Association Hall of Fame. Toby is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Cook Burgett; his brother, Ronnie (Brenda) Burgett; sons, Mike (Lisa) Burgett, Randy (Kim) Burgett, & Darryl (Lori) Burgett; 9 grandchildren & 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Ella Burgett, his sister, Jeweline Burgett Cates, and his brother, Oscar Burgett, Jr. Celebration of Life service will be held Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at one o'clock in the afternoon, Nashville First Church of Nazarene, 510 Woodland Street, Nashville, TN 37206. Gathering of family and friends will be held Tuesday, April 14, from five o'clock until eight o'clock in the evening and from eleven o'clock in the morning until the funeral hour at Nashville First Church of the Nazarene. Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to Toby’s favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
