Carolyn Graham Scruggs

Carolyn was an amazingly independent and optimistic individual who was fortunate to live an active life with an equally active mind, maintaining charge of her life to her last day. Born January 5, 1933, to James E. and Mary A. Payne of Nashville, TN, she was preceded in death by both her parents and brother, James E. Payne, Jr. She lived her entire life in Nashville and enjoyed being part of the city’s emerging growth as the wife of Nashville International Airport’s Executive Director, James S. Graham, who proceeded her in death January 7, 1981.

Carolyn led a wonderful life based in her devout faith and the love of her family which became extended upon her second marriage to Charles A. Scruggs (1923 – 2016) and his children, Elaine, Chuck, Johnny, Mark, Don, Bob, and Philip, which also includes their Spouses, 17 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Survived by her daughter, Karen Graham Aid (James Aid), granddaughters, Jamie Elizabeth Aid (Matthew Kwasek), and Lauren Kathryn Aid who reside in Nashville, TN, her son, William S. Graham (Marsha) of Charlotte, North Carolina, grandson, Scott Graham (Andrea), and great-granddaughter, Seline Graham.

The family will conduct a private Funeral service to be held Friday July 9, 2021 beginning at 1:00PM at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN 37204 . The family requests in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to the American Heart Association.
