Preceded in death by parents, Walter and Ethel Melton; and siblings, Jean Jennings, Charles Melton, and Sue Hoover.
Survived by loving husband, James (PD) Stanton; five cherished daughters, Melinda (David) Shoemaker, Bonnie (Steve) Parham, Julie (Bill) Garrett, Maureen (Alan) Proctor and Janie (Alan) Adams; twelve grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Josie Melton, Katherine See; and brother-in-law William Hoover.
Longtime member of West End Church of Christ, her great faith was evident in the blessing she was to her family and friends. Her sweet, sacrificial spirit, joyful heart and servant hands are a lasting example for all who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 3, from five to eight o’clock in the evening at Woodlawn Roesch-Patton Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held Thursday, August 4, at eleven-thirty with visitation from ten to eleven o’clock at West End Church of Christ, 3534 West End Avenue. Graveside service to follow later. Honorary pallbearers are her Cumberland Mountain family and her Tuesday Ladies Bible Class. Family will serve as active pallbearers.
