Born in Virginia, she graduated from Brentwood High School (1987) and Auburn University (1990). She continued to be a loyal and dedicated War Eagle alumni and is quite proud that her stepdaughter is scheduled to attend her alma mater this fall.
Mears spent 30 years in the hospitality industry in Nashville. Working for Helen Moskovitz & Associates and Gaylord Opryland Hotel gave her a foundation in the industry. Planning, coordinating, and running events was her passion. She was genuinely warm to all her guests who visited Nashville. The “professional party planner” was always calm, collected and organized during highly stressful times. This professionalism earned her high respect and adoration within the industry. In 1997, she started her own company, The Key Event Group.
Mears was married to her husband, Dudney Fox, for 16 years. Mears fiercely loved her daughter, Mary Fletcher Fox (13) and stepdaughter Bella Fox (17). Personally, Mears never stopped planning. She was always active scheduling play dates, summer camps, study times, and sports carpools. Her greatest joy was being a mother. When not working, she and her family loved to travel the beaches of 30A or to remote villages on the Mexican coast.
She is preceded in death by her father Stuart White, mother Wanda White, and grandparents. She leaves behind her husband Dudney Fox, daughter Mary Fletcher Fox (13), stepdaughter Bella Victory-Fox (17), sister Teresa White, and sister Candace (White) Miles and Josh with nephews Cameron (20) and Parker (17). While numerous friends and family are heartbroken, we know she rests in peace, and will be seen again in Heaven.
