Albert, known as Albie to many, was born on August 11, 1930 in Newark, New Jersey. He was a graduate of The Peddie School in Hightstown, New Jersey, Princeton University and Harvard Law School. He served in the U.S. Army Field Artillery as a First Lieutenant in Korea. He married the love of his life Babs Mann from Charleston, West Virginia on September 27, 1959.
Throughout his legal career Albie was admitted to practice law in New York, New Jersey, West Virginia and The District of Columbia. He was a partner in the law firm Payne, Minor, Ray, Price and Lob in Charleston, West Virginia from 1960- 1969 and he was a partner in the law firm Windels, Merritt and Ingraham in New York City from 1969-1974. In 1974 he became President and Vice Chairman of the Board of Renfield Corporation, Importers of Wine and Spirits, in New York City until his retirement in 1986.
Albie was always involved in the communities in which he lived. In Charleston, West Virginia he served as a member of the Board of Trustees of Temple Israel and President of The Temple Brotherhood. Moving back to New Jersey in 1969 he ultimately served on the Board of Daughters of Israel Geriatric Center and The Board of Trustees of Temple B'Nai Jeshurun. After moving to Nashville with Babs in
2001 to be closer to his daughter Susan and her family, he quickly became a member of The Board of Directors of Richland Place Independent Living and Health Center.
Albie enjoyed playing golf and tennis. He loved to garden with Babs. He loved to travel with his family or just simply be with them at home. With his grandchildren Jeffrey and Meg he loved excursions to NYC, visits to Nashville, time at the beach, sledding down Cameron Field and Dairy Queen ice cream whenever possible. We all loved and giggled when he sang " You are my Sunshine" to us. Albie was smart and wise and taught all of us so much. We loved him dearly and will miss him deeply.
