Thomas Michael Velez

Thomas Michael Velez age 64, passed away on February 1, 2017after a valiant fight with pancreatic cancer. Mike was born in Beech Grove, IN on April 17, 1952. He was the son of Paul and Patricia(Paddack)Velez. Mike was a1970 graduate of Greenwood High School. He married Mary Michelle Kaufman on March 21, 1987. He worked as a truck driver over the road until he drove for Kroger/Transervice in 1979. He was a big, kind gentle man who would do anything to help anyone in need. He hauled water to Texas after hurricane Katrina’s catastrophic devastation to our southern states. When the roads were bad he drove on anyway, saying “the babies have to have their milk”. Mike was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church. He loved God, family and friends, his country, Nascar, golfing, fishing and camping. He will be sadly missed by his loving family and friends. Mike is survived by his loving wife Michelle, his daughter Melissa Kaufman and son Chris Velez, grandchildren: Graci Kaufman, Rainey Velez and Marley Velez, his father Paul(Mary Sue)Velez, two brothers: John and David Velez, two sisters: Toni(John)Maw and Paula(Dave)Kesting, his aunt and uncle: Linda and Bill Knight, 14 nieces and nephews, two brothers-in-law: Greg(Peggy)Kaufman and Jacob(Phyllis)Kaufman. Mike was preceded in death by his mother Patricia and his grandparents. Visitation for Mike will be held on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 from 4-8 p.m. in Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home, 1682 State Rd. 135 North, Nashville, IN 47448. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1008 McLary Rd., Nashville, IN 47448.
