Donald P. Eads, 70, of Bloomington, died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018, at home of natural causes.
He was born Dec. 31, 1947, to L. Gaither and Emily (Sperry) Eads of rural Nashville and graduated from Brown County High School in 1966. He earned a degree in criminology from Indiana State University in 1970.
He married Jane A. Olson on February 18, 1973, in Brown County and she preceded him in death. Don retired from facility operations at Indiana University in 2008. He was an industrious and resourceful tinkerer who appreciated vintage machinery. Don was warm-hearted, generous, and fiercely loyal to his friends. He didn’t own a smartphone or a computer, preferring to spend time outdoors and connecting with those he loved. He enjoyed reading, riding his motorcycle, and walking in the countryside with his beloved German Shepherd, Bacon. He also enjoyed a good joke and his booming laughter filled the room.
He is survived by his friend and companion, Cindy Jackson, and her granddaughter, Marley Ray, whom he adored; daughter, Katie Davis (Jim DeBaun) of Columbus; grandson, Matt Davis (Brittany) and great-grandchildren, Hunter and Miriah, of Bloomington; and siblings, Tony Eads (Mary Ellen) of Oak Park, Illinois; Skip Eads (Kat Braz) of West Lafayette; and Julie Eads (Doug Woolley) of Poughkeepsie, New York; along with many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Jerry Davis; a brother, George; and his parents.
Friends are invited to an informal memorial reception from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 4, at the Artist’s Colony Inn, 105 South Van Buren St., Nashville, Ind. Private inurnment at Brown County Memorial Park Cemetery will be held at a later date.
