David grew up in Fort Wayne but moved to Brown County in 1969. He spent his career teaching elementary school in Bartholomew County. Much of his free time he dedicated to stone masonry, furniture refinishing, log cabin-building, and carpentry. He was also an ironwork and clock aficionado. In later years, he served the community as a leader on the library board and the development review commission. As the president of the library board, David spent countless hours planning for and overseeing the construction of the new library building. He loved sharing this gift with his community.
David and his wife Cathy owned the Toy Chest store in Nashville for 25 years. David always made work fun for himself and others. He was active in the Peaceful Valley Heritage Preservation Society and rarely missed a town council meeting.
David loved traveling with his family and visited almost every part of the United States, as well as many European countries. Friends and family will remember his generosity, gentle spirit, sense of humor, and deep caring for all those around him.
He is survived by his wife Cathy and children Becky and Seth, daughter-in-law Jessica, and grandchildren Kai, Quinn, and Pax, as well as many other family members
