William Layton Scoville, 90, of Nashua NH, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2021. Born in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada on March 19, 1930 He was the son of the late Maurice and Mildred Scoville.
He grew up in Lubec, Maine, and after graduating high school joined the Air Force. While serving he met his future wife, Peg Boyle at a USO dance. After completing his military service, he joined the Civilian Aeronautics Administration (later the FAA) as an air traffic controller. He spent most of his career at Nashua Center in Nashua from 1959 until his retirement. He retired 36 years ago. He was a devoted parishioner at Immaculate Conception Church and a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
He was a passionate golfer and for many years after retiring played almost every day. He never missed an opportunity to try out a new gadget and the house was filled with them. He also loved his ‘dad’ jokes and told a certain one every chance he could get.
He is survived by his children Nancy Buck and her husband Rudy, Gene and his wife Betty, Peg Pickett and her husband Steve, Bill and his wife Sue, Teresa D’Onofrio and her husband Anthony, and Maurice and his wife Deb; grandchildren Mike, Matt, Amanda, Craig, Jordan, Alexandra, Abrianna, Chris, Katie, Conor, Quinn, Melissa and Sara; 5 great-grandchildren; cousin Hazel Avery and many loving friends. He is predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Peg Scoville.
A walk-thru visitation will be held on Monday March 1, 2021 from 4pm to 7pm at the Zis-Sweeney & St. Laurent Funeral Home, 26 Kinsley St. Nashua. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on Tuesday March 2, 2021 at Immaculate Conception Parish, 216 E. Dunstable Rd. Nashua.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Immaculate Conception Endowment Fund.
