Paul "Coach" J. Wesinger, 77, of Nashua, NH passed away at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack NH, surrounded by his family on Saturday, July 29, 2023. Paul was born in Nashua, NH on May 13, 1946, to the late George and Pauline “Phyllis” (Steiger) Wesinger. He was also the husband of Cheryl Ann (Baker) Wesinger who passed on November 29, 2000.
Paul was a lifelong resident of Nashua and graduated from Nashua Senior High School in 1966. Shortly after his graduation, he joined the U.S. Army and served for three years, one year being in South Korea, and was honorably discharged in 1969 with the rank of Spec IV.
On August 2, 1970, he joined the Nashua NH Police Department where he would dedicate his life to serve and protect the city of Nashua for over 30 years. After his retirement, he continued to work as a paraprofessional at Nashua High School South.
Paul was very dedicated to his community, especially the youth. As an avid sports player himself, he was active in coaching baseball, as well as umpiring, and State Commissioner for Cal Ripken Baseball. He coached football for Elm St. Middle School and for Nashua Senior High School South. He was involved in fundraising for the Nashua East Little League for many years. He also devoted time and fundraising for the Nashua Elks Cub Scout Pack 720 and the Daniel Webster Council, BSA. He served as president of a bowling league at Lead Lanes for over 25 years. Those close to him will remember him as 'grumpy on the outside" but generous and loving on the inside.
Paul is survived by his son Jason, his wife Joy and their daughter Brooke. Jason and Joy spent countless hours caring for and advocating for Paul's health needs. He is also survived by his son Mark Wesinger and his daughter Isabella, of Merrimack NH. Additionally two stepsons, Chris Baker and Rich Stover. Paul is survived by his siblings, sister Joanne Wesinger Lobaugh and her husband Doyle of Cedar Hill Texas. Locally, his sister Linda Vachon and her husband Fernand; his brother Nick Dedousis and wife Barbara; and his sister-in-law Diana Dedousis. He is also survived by loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends. He was predeceased by his brother Peter Dedousis who passed on January 26, 2018.
A visitation will be held Monday, August 7, 2023 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Zis-Sweeney and St Laurent Funeral Home, 26 Kinsley St, Nashua NH. A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. at St Patrick Church, 29 Spring St, Nashua NH with a burial immediately following at Woodlawn Cemetery, 101 Kinsley St, Nashua, NH.
