John P. Dunn, 84, of Hollis, NH passed away on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH with his loving family by his side. He was born August 13, 1927 in Stratford, CT, a son of the late William E. and Margaret (Lillis) Dunn. He was a resident of Hollis since 2003, formerly of Orlando, FL and Stratford.
Mr. Dunn proudly served his country as a U.S. Marine. He was a member of the American Legion Stratford, CT Post 42, a charter member of Stratford’s VFW and also a member of the Hollis Seniors. He married Ruth (Prentice) Dunn on October 25, 1947 in Stratford. Mr. Dunn worked for 37 years for Southern New England Telephone, retiring in 1987. He enjoyed deer hunting with his brothers at their cabin in Maine and together with his wife enjoyed watching the Red Sox and Patriots, as his life centered on time spent with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years; Ruth (Prentice) Dunn of Hollis, two daughters; Barbara Page and her husband John of Sanford, NC and Jackie Bozzuto and her husband John of Hollis, four grandchildren; Michael Kennedy and his wife Kristie of Bethlehem, PA, Daryl Kennedy and his wife Carly of Nazareth, PA, Laura Bozzuto of Hollis and Lisa Bozzuto of Waltham, MA, three great-grandchildren; Colleen, Chase and Skylar Kennedy. He is also survived by a brother; Alfred Dunn and his wife Rebecca and also by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by seven brothers; William, James, Andrew, Robert, Donald, Richard and David Dunn and by three sisters; Madeline Bene, Edith Krischlunas and Flora Wilcoxson.
Visiting hours will be held 4:00pm to 8:00pm on Monday, April 9, 2012 in the Zis-Sweeney Funeral Home, 26 Kinsley St., Nashua, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00am Tuesday, April 10 in St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 777 W. Hollis St., Nashua. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Louis de Gonzague Cemetery, 752 W. Hollis St., Nashua. Memorials in Mr. Dunn’s memory may be directed to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
