Maria Theresa Givens

Maria Theresa Givens, went home to be with her Lord on March 19, 2019 at South Miami Hospital, in Miami Florida, ending a long hard fight with emphysema. She and her family were blessed to celebrate her 80th birthday, just weeks beforehand. Funeral services will be held at Caballero Rivero Palms Woodlawn Cemetery, Naranja, FL on Saturday, March 23rd, at 1pm.

Theresa was born on February 25, 1939 in Norwood, Massachusetts, the daughter of Italian immigrants, Augusto and Flavia Blasetti. Her family moved to Homestead, FL in the 1940s and settled in Miami where she attended Miami High School, graduating in 1956. She met her beloved husband James, “Buddy” Givens while waitressing in her parents' restaurant, The Lucky Bar. They were married on October 21, 1960 and spent over 56 years together before he preceded her in death on March 25, 2017. Together, they raised three beloved sons, James, Glen, and Robert.

Theresa is survived by her sons, James and wife Margie (Brandenton, FL), Glen (Miami, FL), and Robert and wife Tes (Miami FL). She is also survived by her sister, Adriana Blasetti Tomassi, (Homestead, FL), three beautiful grandchildren, Brian, Stephanie, and Melissa, and close nieces and nephew, Terri, Diana, Sam, and Andi. She will be remembered for her great love and strong support of her family, as well as her fun and feisty spirit!
