She was born March 1, 1945 in Lima, Ohio; the daughter of the late Dick and Lenore Roberts and sister of the late Pamela Haase, of Rochester, Michigan. She was a graduate of Rochester High and Central Michigan University with degrees in Biology and Education. On July 6, 1975 she married the late John F. Yount. They moved to Midland, MI where they began their family. Melanie built a successful business with Mary Kay Cosmetics, eventually becoming a Sales Director. In 2005 John and Melanie retired to Naples, Florida where she enjoyed the sun, beach, her cats, her beloved late African Grey Parrot- Monica, and was active with PEO International. The past few years she enjoyed traveling throughout the US, Canada, and Europe with her companion George Caird.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Torrens and Kylee Yount and their children James, Declan and BryarRose of Canton, Mich.; and her daughter and son-in-law, Adelia and Ryan Harp, and their children Colton and Alyse of New Lothrop, Mich.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, October 20, 2024 from 2-4 pm at Venue 63 in Midland, MI.
Formal funeral service will be held Sunday, December 29, 2024 at 2 pm at Hodges Funeral Home, 525 111th Ave N, Naples, FL 34108.
