He was born May 21st, 1963, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Don R. Schlitz and Geraldine Gauthier Schlitz.
Joseph was a graduate of Upper Arlington High School, Columbus, Ohio, class of 1981. After high school, Joseph graduated with honors from Miami University (Oxford, Ohio) in 1985, with a Bachelor of Science in Business. He continued on and graduated from Northwestern University (J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management) with a Master of Business Management/Marketing in 1990 and attended Wharton General Management and Leadership Program (Philadelphia, PA) in 2007.
Joe had a successful 30 year career in the pharmaceutical industry. His success brought him many opportunities across 7 different states as well as abroad. Joe quickly developed the reputation of being know as “The Fixer”. Throughout his long career he was recognized and honored for his hard work and achievements.
Joe loved all types of sports and was an amazing athlete. He was captain of both his high school football and track team, as well as, an avid weight lifter receiving many awards on and off the field. Joe was an avid hunter and fisherman. He found peace and joy in nature and all wildlife which he loved to share with his wife and children throughout his life.
Joe was a true family man in every sense of the word. He had such unwavering and committed love for family and friends. He sadly leaves behind, his wife, Linda; daughters, Alexandra and Samantha; son Joseph; parents, Don R. Schlitz and Geraldine (Gauthier) Schlitz; brothers, William Schlitz, Paul Schlitz, Zachariah Schlitz; sisters, Mary Jo Schlitz, Cynthia (Schlitz) Law, Stephanie (Schlitz) Bodine, Diane (Schlitz) Roberson, Joy (Schlitz) Kirkland, Honorary brother, Walid Saad-Schlitz; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, David Schlitz.
Friends and family are welcome at Hodges Funeral Home at Naples Memorial Gardens, 525 111th Ave N, Naples, FL 34108 on Saturday, November 16, 2019 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. with funeral services starting at 4:15 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joseph's name to “Ducks Unlimited”.
