John was born on August 14, 1933 in Long Island, New York, to the late Thomas and Agnes (Foley) Connor. He moved from Miami to Naples in 1976 with his wife and three children.
As a Marine who proudly served the United States of America from 1952-1956, John fought in the Korean War before moving back to Miami where he started his training and career as an Airframe & Powerplant mechanic for Mackey Airlines. He continued his passion for aviation as a commercial pilot for National Airlines and Pan American Airways until his retirement in 1989. John graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University with a degree in aeronautical engineering in 1975 after attending college on the GI Bill. He was involved in the greater Naples aviation community and the Radio Controlled (RC) Airplane flying club.
John was a devout Catholic who led his family by example with his steadfast faith and moral philosophy. He was heavily involved with St. William Catholic Church for the past 47 years, where he served as an Eucharistic Minister and Natural Family Planning educator.
Always seeking adventure, John didn't take a single day on Earth for granted. Whether riding his motorcycle around town or building and flying airplanes in his workshop, John had a true passion for engineering and mechanics.
He is survived by his wife, Angela, their three children, and their families, Carol, Tom (Karla), and Barry (Cheri), as well as 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
