George W. (Bud) Bleem died peacefully in his sleep at his home in Naples Florida on November 16, 2022, at age 94, he is the son of George W. Bleem and Bridget Della Flynn Bleem and was born on December 4, 1927.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years Mary Eileen (Briceland) Bleem, his children George, Bill (Charlene), Mike, Mary Ellen, Bob (Catherine), five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his parents, sister Mary (Kelly) and brother John.
Bud served in the merchant marine near the end of World War II and (as an underage teenager) traveled the world. He was later drafted into the army during the Korean War ending his tour as a sergeant and then returning to Syracuse. He attended Lemoyne college which is where he met his wife Eileen and they married on November 22, 1952.
George and Eileen have resided in Syracuse and Cazenovia New York, Naples Florida and their cottage on Wolfe Island in Ontario Canada.
George’s business was selling commercial furniture. He worked for Nichols Equipment in Syracuse for a number of years and then started his own very successful business as an independent sales representative for several large custom furniture manufactures.
George worked hard his whole life, raised his family and was blessed to be able to retire at 62 and enjoy over 32 years of retirement with family and friends, spending winters in Florida and summers on Wolfe Island.
George was a very good golfer. Even after his eyesight started to fail he was golfing and, with a perfect swing, would always hit the ball where he wanted it, as long as someone pointed him in the right direction! While not golfing, George was a volunteer at the St. Vincent thrift store in Naples and he enjoyed keeping a large vegetable garden at both homes in Cazenovia and Wolfe Island.
Masses will be celebrated at Saint Peter the Apostle church in Naples and on Wolfe Island where George will be interred.
