William Frederick Marshall

Bill passed away on August 17, 2022 at the age of 85 with his three children by his side in Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.

Born in London, England on March 20, 1937 the family would move to Edinburgh, Scotland when Bill was two years old. This is where he would pick up his well known Edinburgh accent. He met the love of his life at age 20. He married Grace Boyle on November 05, 1960 on her 22nd birthday. He was the oldest of three children born to Frederick and Lilian Marshall. He was predeceased by his parents and one sister (Anne) that passed away at the age of seven in 1954.

Bill and Grace immigrated to Canada with their two oldest children landing in Vancouver on May 24, 1967 and moving to Nanaimo shortly after. One of their great passions was dancing. Once on the dance floor, they could make heads turn just to watch them jive.

Predeceased by his wife Grace, Bill leaves behind his sister Jean (Ernie), his children Karen (Warren), Bill (Debbie), Kevin (Marla); six grandchildren, John, Shawn, Alicia, Baylee, Carter & Reece; three great grandchildren, and countless nieces and nephews in Scotland, England, and the USA.

A celebration of Bill’s life will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2022 @ 1 pm at First Memorial Funeral Services at 1720 Bowen Road, Nanaimo, B.C. We will gather for a drink and a toast to Bill at his favourite neighbourhood pub afterwards.
