POOLE, Sheila Ann (Frenkel), age 77, formerly of Prince George and Vernon, passed away Monday May 6th, 2024, in the palliative care unit of Nanaimo General Hospital.
Sheila was born in Prince George on May 1st,1947. Sheila's early years were spent growing up in Giscome, Sinclair Mills and Penny BC, and attending high school in Prince George.
Sheila moved to Nanaimo and graduated from hair styling school in the early 1960’s and became a lifelong hair stylist. As a result of her gifts for listening and caring, she developed a loyal customer base and made friends wherever she worked, ultimately opening a studio in her own home.
In her early years as a hairdresser, Sheila moved to Vernon to be closer to her parents, but eventually returned to live in Nanaimo where she met her husband, Doug.
Sheila was an avid Bingo player and seemed to have a knack for picking the right cards and hitting the jackpot.
When not playing bingo or styling hair, Sheila travelled to other countries and sailed on ocean cruises with her husband Doug, always returning from these trips having met new people and developing lasting friendships.
She was a beloved companion and best friend to her two sisters, Margaret and Marie and often helped out at garage sales, provided a shoulder to cry on in tough times and administered care during convalescence.
Everyone loved Sheila’s infectious laugh and we will miss her dearly.
Preceded in death by her parents, Gustov and Mary Frenkel and brother, Johnny.
She is survived by her loving husband of 24 years, Douglas Poole, and sisters, Margaret (James) and Marie (Raeburn), numerous nieces, nephews and members of Doug’s family.
There will be no service as per Sheila's wishes. If desired, friends may make memorial contributions in Sheila’s name, to the Palliative Care Unit at the Nanaimo and District Hospital Foundation or to the BC Cancer Society.
