With great sadness, we announce the unexpected passing of Lynne at age 79. Lynne passed peacefully and surrounded by family at the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. She was born on November 22, 1943 in North Vancouver, and lived in Nanaimo for most of her life. She was predeceased by her parents, Clarence and Ethel Bailey, and her sister, Gail Louise North.
Lynne will be remembered fondly by her son, Grant Bailey (Naomi), daughter Tracy Ryper (Daniel), granddaughter Jessica Bailey (Natan), grandson Joshua Bailey, grandson Benjamin Ryper and her step grandchildren, Anna (Kevin), Jade (Nick) and David. Her ex-partner, James Kelly, and numerous friends she considered family will also hold her in their hearts.
She was a kind and generous woman with a passion for baking, animals, and walking. Her friends and family will remember struggling to keep up with her during her daily walks, while her grandchildren will remember sitting on her kitchen counter, eating cookie dough off spoons. Seeing her family grow into unique individuals was always important to her, and she continuously expressed her pride for them. That pride will be remembered, even now that she can no longer tell people how she felt.
While Lynne never got to travel as far or as widely as she wanted, she loved living vicariously through others’ journeys and her remaining loved ones will explore the places she always wanted to see. The trips she did manage to make were also fondly remembered up until the day she passed.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Kidney Foundation.
May she rest in peace.
