It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Isabel Maria Albrecht (nee Parece) on October 10, 2024, after her courageous battle with cancer. Isabel was surrounded by her loving family at the time of her passing at the Vancouver General Hospital.
Isabel was born on February 27, 1953, in Villa Franca on the island of Sao Miguel, Portugal, to Isaura and Artur Parece. Her family relocated to Canada in 1956, and proceeded to live in Saskatchewan, Alberta, and central BC before settling in Nanaimo, BC in 1987.
She was the beloved wife of Ken Albrecht, mother to Bradley (Tammie), Sheri (Ward), Karlie, and Chelsea (Rory), and Avo to her 6 grandchildren – Shaquile, Wyatt, Rylee, Christopher, Lennon and Wren. Isabel also lovingly had the title of Vis-Avo to her great granddaughter, Isaura. Isabel loved her family more than anything else. Isabel leaves behind her sisters, Trish Parece and Marie Whiting (Don) and is predeceased by her parents and brother.
Isabel was a vibrant woman, known for her compassionate and helpful nature. She was a loving wife, nurturing mother, and a supportive friend to many, doing all while wearing high heels. She was lively and had a heart of gold. When not working, she was often found with her kids, visiting her mother, decorating and assisting with curling club functions, volunteering with Heart and Stroke, or creating beautiful crochet, knitted and sewn items.
Isabel always forged her own path and did things on her own time. She was tough and defied the odds when faced with open heart surgery 14 years ago, prevailing and providing her family and friends over a decade of additional love and support. Her infectious smile and joyful laugh will be missed by all.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, November 18, 2024, at 2:00pm, at the Nanaimo Curling Club.
