Grae Willis Dickason of Nanaimo BC passed away suddenly and unexpectedly of a heart attack on September 23, 2022. He was 63. Grae will be very much missed by his wife Lesley, son Chris, dog Bailey, and his many colleagues and friends.
Grae was born in Victoria BC and grew up there and later in Calgary. After graduation he moved to Banff, working on the ski hill and then in sporting goods, while hiking and skiing as often as he could. Next he moved to Vancouver where he met his future wife Lesley. Grae and Lesley moved to Nanaimo in 1993 and soon had their son Chris. Grae formed his own business Home Pro Painting and worked many years painting homes and stratas in Nanaimo and Oceanside.
Grae was happiest when out enjoying the trails on his e-bike. He also loved his garden and his cameras, or on a rainy day, spending some time playing video games. He was enjoying making videos of himself in his workshop telling goofy stories, and taking his GoPro with him on his bike. Grae had many interests and hobbies including photography, photo-art, and woodworking. When Chris was younger, Grae would regularly take him and his friends out to play paintball, getting shot in the process. He was the master of the corny Dad-Joke and had a friendly smile for everyone.
The family would like to thank Nanaimo’s first responders, and would also like to acknowledge the many kind wishes and words of support from family and friends.
There will be a service to remember Grae on October 29th at 1:00 PM, at First Memorial Funeral Services, 1720 Bowen Road, Nanaimo BC.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the BC Heart and Stroke Foundation, Nanaimo SPCA or any charity of your choice.
