Mr. Ryan Brown Davis, age 24, of Nacogdoches, Texas, passed away Monday, October 28, 2013, at Nacogdoches Memorial HoServices for Ryan Brown Davis, age 24, of Nacogdoches will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 2, 2013, at First United Methodist Church in Nacogdoches, with Dr. Bill Gandin officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Ryan joined our Lord and Savior on Monday, October 28, 2013, in Nacogdoches. He was born August 30, 1989 in Nacogdoches, Texas to Skeeter and Carolyn Boudro Davis.
Ryan, a member of the National Honor Society, graduated from Nacogdoches High School in 2008 where he was actively involved in Key Club, soccer, track and cross-country. Church held a special place in Ryan’s heart and he loved Jud, the youth leader, and hanging out with the youth and keeping everyone entertained. His smile lit up the room, no matter where he went. Becoming a Sea Aggie was at the helm of Ryan’s nautical pursuits. At the time of his accident, Ryan was studying Marine Transportation with the goal of becoming a ship’s captain. He was an active member of the Texas Maritime Academy at Texas A&M Galveston. Ryan would have graduated this past August. Water was a huge part of Ryan’s life; he loved swimming in the Frio and skim boarding at the beach. Dancing at Garner State Park, or anywhere, was a preferred activity. Music played a significant part in Ryan’s life; he loved Jimmy Buffet, The Beatles, and Bob Marley and knew all the words to mom and dad’s oldies.
Team Ryan and the Aggie Nation played a significant role in the Davis family journey the last 34 months. May blessings be bountiful to the many who provided prayer and cards, love, care, food, therapy, and medical attention. From the prayer vigil and fund-raiser, to the community-wide churches offering prayers and prayer blankets, the family has been sustained. Financial help from the whole community helped to purchase medical equipment and the van for transporting Ryan. It is these gifts of love that made the difference.
Survivors include his parents, Skeeter and Carolyn, and brother Scott; aunt and uncle Margaret and Jay Hairston and cousins Dixie and Davis, all of League City, Texas; aunt and uncle Susan and Todd Oubre of Dayton, Texas and cousin Matthew, also of Dayton; uncle Doug Davis of Dayton, Texas and cousins Kelli Davis, of Humble, Texas and Ric Davis of Lake Charles, Louisiana. His paternal grandparents Doug and Patsy Davis, maternal grandparents Bruntze and Lorine Boudro, and uncle Linn Boudro, greeted Ryan in heaven. Ryan leaves behind many beloved family members and friends.
Pallbearers are Anthony Scott, Jud McLeod, Matt Wallace, Todd Mays, Wayne Goodwin, and Ty Marmon. Honorary Pallbearers are Armando Sanchez, Bernard Livingston, David Lucena, James Harkness, Jimmy Griffin, Lee Brewer, Tim Brewer, and Tommy McAninch.
