Karen Diane McGarrett

Karen was a graduate of Klein High School in Harris County. A talented harpist, she had a love for music that she shared with students in private lessons, as a clinician, and most recently at Cushing Elementary School as their music teacher. She and her husband Walt were longtime members of Calvary Baptist Church in Nacogdoches where they taught Sunday School, and Karen played the harp with the worship team. Karen served as the Communications Director at Calvary Baptist. She enjoyed traveling, camping, and spending time with her many beloved pets. She cherished spending time with friends and sharing the love of Christ.

Mrs. McGarrett was preceded in death by her father, Robert Amos.

She is survived by her husband, Walter “Walt” McGarrett; mother, Jerrie Amos; brother, Robert Amos and wife Hannah; and niece, Caroline Amos.

Friends and family are invited to a visitation on from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at Calvary Baptist Church in Nacogdoches. Memorial services will follow at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Pastor Paul Sevar and Pastor Charles Rikard.
