Mr. James William Nash of Spring, Texas, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2016, in Spring, Texas, at the age of 59. He was born August 2, 1957, in Trinity, Texas, to parents Woodrow W. “Spot” Nash and Doris Tolbert Nash, who preceded him in death.
Services are set for 2:30 p.m. Thursday, September 22, 2016, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Chapel, 5400 North Street in Nacogdoches, Texas, with Bro. Rocky Otwell officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, located at 5127 North Street.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Cason Monk-Metcalf.
James was an avid sportsman and enjoyed playing football, baseball, and basketball. He was active in FFA loved to rodeo, as well as hunting and fishing. Spending time with his children and family was important to James. James and Brenda were members of Spring Baptist Church in Spring.
James began an oilfield career early in life. He had worked with Noble Drilling, offshore and onshore, a drilling superintendent for Intrepid, and a toolpusher for Reliant Drilling and Grace Drilling. He was currently serving as global operations manager for Nabors Drilling—formerly serving Nabors also as a drilling superintendent and district manager. His close friends called him “The Legend” while others knew him as “Cuz.”
His survivors include his wife of almost 40 years, Brenda Vardeman Nash of Spring; mother-in-law, Lamerle Vardeman of Nacogdoches, Texas; daughter, Carmen Nash Prentice and husband Scotty of Mount Enterprise, Texas; son, Corey William Nash and wife Cydney Nash of Spring, Texas. grandchildren, Cameron William Nash, Madison Grace Prentice, Chloe Michelle Prentice, and Copeland Ty Prentice; sisters, Amber Gwyn Machacek and husband Larry Mahacek of Conroe, Texas, and Nancy Taylor of Spring, Texas; brother-in-law, Don Vardeman and wife Gayla Vardeman of Nacogdoches, Texas; nephew, Doug Vardeman and wife Jasmine of Tyler, Texas; and many cousins and friends.
James made many friends throughout life and will be truly missed.
Pallbearers will be Jessie Jaenicke, Nathan Simmons, G.T. Prentice, Scotty Prentice, Jacob Perry, Bronson Holmes, Scott Blackmore, and Jerry Price.
