Iva Lee Hamilton

Heavenly Father on April 20, 2019 at the age of 97 years. Iva was born on March 11, 1922 to

Peyton and Hattie Coats Russell in Nacogdoches County. She married Thomas Ross Hamilton on

March 23, 1939 in Center, Texas. They made their home in Nacogdoches County.

She is survived by her children, son: Glen Hamilton and wife, Edith, of Jacksonville, Texas,

daughters: Linda Hamilton Hardy and husband, Fred, of San Saba, Texas and Beth Hamilton Gailey

and husband, Leonard, of Pflugerville, Texas; nine grandchildren: Ben Hamilton, Deanne Hardy

Cromer, Leah Slider-Hamilton, Dani Hardy Gilcrease, Marla Hamilton White, Chance Hamilton,

Steven Hardy, Heather Gailey, and Megan Gailey Cagle; 21 great grandchildren, 3 great-great

grandchildren, one sister, Yvonne Clifton, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Peyton and Hattie Russell, her husband, Ross, of 57 years,

two sisters: Shirley Russell Wilburn and Maggie Jim Russell Schaumloffel, four brothers: Harvey

Russell, Homer Russell, Herman Russell, and Henry “Skinner” Russell, and several nieces and

nephews.

Iva was a lifetime resident of Nacogdoches County. She loved her family and always enjoyed

spending time with them. She was so proud of her family; she felt that every accomplishment for

them was also one for her. She will be dearly missed by them all. Iva was a member of the University

Baptist Church which was an important part of her life. She loved her Church Family and missed

them when she was no longer able to attend services. Iva worked at various jobs throughout her

lifetime, but the one she enjoyed the most was at Stephen F. Austin University where she worked at

the bookstore and was able to be around the young students. She invited many of them to attend her

church.

There will be a visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Cason Monk Funeral Home, Nacogdoches, Texas

on Monday, April 22, 2019. Services will be held at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church on Tuesday, April

23, 2019 at 11:00 a.m., with interment at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The services will be held by the

Reverend Dock Lazarine and Ronnie Durham. Music will be under the direction of Gary Goss with a

special reading by Iva’s sister, Yvonne Clifton. Pallbearers will be Ben Hamilton, Chance Hamilton,

Steven Hardy, John White, Maarten Cromer, and Buck Gilcrease.

The family would like to thank many friends and other family members for all of their love, support

and visits over the past year. A special thank you to Ann, Yvonne, Tim and Vikki for their help. You

all went over and beyond anything imaginable. Thanks to wonderful neighbors Melvin and Oma

Cross for all their help, especially over the past 5 years. Many thanks also to Heart to Heart Hospice,

especially Demedric, for their care and kindness. Jackie, you were an added bonus--we appreciate

all that both of you did.

In lieu of flowers, you may send donations to the Pleasant Hill Cemetery Association or to

University Baptist Church, or to the charity of your choice.
