Floyd Wayne Kolb, a devoted father, loving husband, friend, and proud grandfather, passed away peacefully on October 1st, 2024. Born on September 2, 1950, in Nacogdoches, Texas, Wayne lived a life marked by dedication, hard work, and love for his family. He was a proud 5th generation East Texan and was proud to live in the area where his great, great grandfather was awarded an original Texas land grant north of Nacogdoches near Trawick in 1856.
Wayne married his beloved former wife, Peggy Ruth Wingate, in 1970, and together they built a beautiful life centered around their family. A devoted father to three sons, Kevin Kolb, Keith Kolb and Kris Kolb, Wayne always prioritized the well-being and happiness of his children. He found immense joy in his role as a father and grandfather, beaming with pride for his three sons and six grandchildren, who were the light of his life. Grandchildren are Brent Kolb, Kylie Huntington, Katie Doughty, Allyson Clay, Emily Kolb and Jackson Kolb. Wayne had one great-grandchild, Rylan Doughty and another on the way--Kolby Clay.
A skilled machinist, Wayne worked for 38 years at Nibco Valve in Nacogdoches, where he was known for his precision, commitment, and work ethic. His lifelong career left a lasting impact on those who worked alongside him, and his legacy of dedication to his craft endures through his sons who own and operate separate machine shops and metal fabrication businesses in Texas. He was proud to know that the work ethic and devotion that he displayed as a dedicated machinist planted a seed helping to create a successful livelihood for his family.
Wayne was the son of Mona Evelyn Grant and Floyd Gilson Kolb, both of whom predeceased him. He is survived by his siblings, Lauren Hundley, Bobbie Kimmelshue, Stacy Reid, Ricky Kolb and predeceased brother Billy Kolb. His memory will live on through the family he cherished and the countless lives he touched with his kindness, humor, and quiet strength.
Wayne lived a life dedicated to his family and enjoyed fishing, the outdoors, working on cars and cheering/cursing the Dallas Cowboys. These are all passions that he passed onto his sons who emulate many of the same interests.
So much joy and comfort and love in Wayne’s most recent years was brought by special friend Judy Bailey. Wayne leaves behind a legacy in the hearts of his former wife Peggy, friend Judy, his three sons, his six grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His family, friends, and all who knew him will forever remember him for his dedication to his family.
The family would extend a heartfelt thank you to Westward Trails Nursing Facility and Heart to Heart Hospice for their care and love.
A memorial service will be held at 2pm on November 17th, 2024 at the Liberty Hall near Downtown Nacogdoches (805 East Main Street). A private service for the immediate family will be held at Swift Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors.
