Mr. Edgar Lee Kolb passed away on June 12, 2024 at the age of 98 years and was currently a resident of the Garrison Nursing Home. He was born March 20, 1926 in Nacogdoches County, the son of John and Lizzie (Clifton) Kolb. Edgar attended school in Lone Pine and then went on to Central Heights. He was a long-time resident of Garrison and the Pleasant Hill Community where he and the family raised chickens.
Edgar started his work career for Johnny Gregston Feed Mill, then went on to the DeWitts Feed Mill, which turned into Holly Farms. Following that, he went to work for TxDot where he spent twenty-two and a half years, prior to retiring. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
Mr. Kolb LOVED to Fox Hunt! Edgar was nominated and installed into the Fox Hunter's Hall of Fame in March of 2017. He also enjoyed squirrel hunting and produced his own garden.
Mr. Kolb is survived by his son, Troy Lee Kolb and daughter, Judy Sprayberry and her husband Wallace; his grandchildren, Shannon and Jeremy Sprayberry and Christina and Edward Lee Kolb; 5 great grandchildren and 5 great–great grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his loving wife, Louise; baby daughter, Frances Marie Kolb; brothers, Willie, Holt, Wilton, Burton, Jewel and sister, Myrtle White.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 14th at 2:00 p.m. in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with interment following in the Helpenstell Cemetery in Nacogdoches County, Texas. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Home on Friday, June 13th.
