He was born Aug. 27, 1943, in Nacogdoches to parents Carl Alvin Williams and Lula (Lightle) Williams. Buster was a lifelong resident of the area. He retired as Nacogdoches County’s Road and Bridge Administrator after serving more than 20 years in this position.
Mr. Williams was always glad to encourage and help young people. He also enjoyed outdoor activities, such as hunting and fishing.
Sports were dear to Buster as well as he enjoyed playing basketball while attending Central Heights High School and coaching his sons’ youth baseball teams. He always enjoyed watching the World Series and was an avid Cowboys fan.
He was a member of the Baptist faith and enjoyed playing country and gospel music with his family.
Buster and Billie Mae Smith were married June 30, 1962. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
His survivors include his wife, Billie; sons, Charles Dwayne Williams and wife Paula of Woden, Doyle Edward Williams and wife Renee of Nacogdoches, Darrell Lynn Williams and wife Lynne of Center, and London Scott Williams of Nacogdoches; grandchildren, Melissa Williams, Steven Williams, Sydney Williams, Christopher Lewis and wife Heidi, Andrew Lewis, Brandon Lewis, Wade Williams, Keelan Williams, and Ian Williams; great-granddaughters, Heaven Laurette Hayden and Josey Lynn Hayden; sister, Pauline Davis and husband John of Nacogdoches; sisters-in-law, Floice Williams, Deborah Cotton and husband Reggie, and Joy Wilson and husband Charles “Bubba;” a special friend, Susan Nolan; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his brother, Robert.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2013, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel, located at 5400 North Street in Nacogdoches, with Bro. Jerry L. Wilson and Bro. Don Noble officiating. Interment will follow Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 15, 2013, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Cason Monk-Metcalf, located at 5400 North Street in Nacogdoches, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Harrell, Gary Dale Stanaland, John Hoffman, Jeff Coats, Paul Davis, and Danny Coats. Honorary pallbearers will be Rodney Wilson, Chris Lewis, and Wade Williams.
Memorials may be made to Pleasant Hill Cemetery Association.
