Betty J. Pleasant Lindner, age 83, formerly of Nacogdoches passed away at Hospice of East Texas in Tyler, Texas on June 26, 2014. She was born on February 21, 1931 to parents, Robert Lacy and Erma Polk Pleasant in Nacogdoches, Texas.
A funeral service will be conducted by Preacher Randy Harshbarger of Stallings Drive Church of Christ at 3:00 pm at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel on Saturday, June 28, 2014. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be great nephews and niece, Seth Zindler, Austin Zindler, Adam Zindler, Drew Nelson and Elizabeth Nelson.
Family and friends are invited to visitation from 1:30 to 3:00 pm prior to the service on Saturday.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Erma Polk Pleasant and Robert Lacy Pleasant; husband of almost 40 years, W.H. "Bill" Lindner; sisters, Dorothy Pleasant Nelson and Aulie Pleasant Lilly; and brother, Odell Pleasant.
Betty’s survivors include her niece, June Nelson Zindler and husband Mark of Flint, Texas; nephew, Brian Nelson and wife Carol of Temple, Texas; great nephews, Seth Zindler of Sherman, Texas, Austin Zindler of Flint, Texas, Adam Zindler of College Station, Texas, Drew Nelson and wife Meagan of Bay City, Texas; great niece, Elizabeth Nelson of Temple, Texas.
Betty was affectionately known as "Aunt Chicken" by her family and friends."Aunt Chicken" was deeply involved in her nephew's and niece's lives. Her other interests included playing "42" with friends, collecting chicken items, going to estate/garage sales. In her earlier years, she enjoyed bowling; Pioneer Club; WD-40 Club; and her Breast Cancer Support Group. She will be missed greatly by her family and friends.
Her family wishes to express a “Special thanks” to her church family at Stallings Drive Church of Christ in Nacogdoches, for prayers, sitting and visiting her during her illness, as well as her many friends in the community whose love and concern helped her.
Memorial donations may be offered to a charity of your choice on her behalf.
